Empowering the Next Generation Through STEM
At STEM Fun, we exist to ignite a passion in children for hands‑on engineering and science. We believe no generation should grow up devoid of basic mechanical, electrical and scientific understanding. In a world driven by technology, these are no longer niche skills – they are part of everyday life, confidence and independence.
We see a gap between what children learn in many classrooms and the practical skills that really bring STEM to life. That is where STEM Fun comes in. Our sessions and kits give children in Years 7 to 14 the chance to build real projects with real tools – not just watch demonstrations or tap on a tablet. They solder, wire, assemble, code and test. They experience the satisfaction of making something work with their own hands and then take that experience – and often the project itself – home.
Whether they go on to become engineers, technicians, inventors or follow a completely different path, we believe their lives will be richer for the knowledge and experience we choose to instil in them today. Understanding how circuits behave, what gears do, how code controls hardware, or simply how to safely use tools builds problem‑solving, resilience and self‑belief that carries far beyond the workshop.
STEM Fun is run as a not‑for‑profit venture with a clear long‑term vision: to become a registered charity so that high‑quality, practical STEM learning is available to every child, not just those whose families can afford it. Our programmes are designed so that schools, local authorities, community organisations, donations and crowdfunding can all play a part in funding places and supplying equipment.
We already work with schools and clubs to deliver:
Hands‑on STEM sessions aligned to real‑world applications
Take‑home kits that let learning continue beyond the classroom
Structured activities that build both technical skills and teamwork
Any surplus we generate is reinvested straight back into STEM Fun – developing new courses, improving kits, subsidising places and expanding provision into communities that are under‑served.
Behind STEM Fun is a simple belief: if we want a future filled with capable problem‑solvers, creative thinkers and confident makers, we have to give children the chance to experience engineering and science for real, not just in theory. We are here to light that spark, one project, one child and one session at a time.
